Burgundy is made up of four departments-Yonne, Côte d’Or, Nièvre, and Saône-et-Loire. Dijon is the capital of the whole region. It has a surface area of 31,500 sq km, which makes Burgundy larger than Belgium. The region has a population totalling just over 1.6million.

Burgundy today offers unspoilt countryside and space, pure country air, tranquility, beauty and tradition. You can go wine tasting, visit the markets, take a look around the many Chateaus. The Morvan National Park offers a range of activities including fishing or canoeing. The wine route down through the Côte d’Or is not to be missed, with Beaune being a popular town to visit. Morning trips to the boulangerie are a ritual in France and there are no end of walks to walk off those freshly baked baguettes and croissants, which are impossible to resist.
